Composer, producer and self-taught multi-instrumentalist Michael Uyttebroek has explored a diversified career in music. His first releases dating back to 1984 firmly established Michael as a New Age artist specializing in meditative "space piano" compositions.

In 1986, inspired by Montreal's Tam-Tam Festival, a weekly drum, dance and percussion festival, Uyttebroek travelled to Dakar, Senegal to experience drumming at its roots. Jamming with the griots, drum makers and dancers, he quickly expanded his rhythmical knowledge. This led to incorporating hand drumming with multi-layered synthesizer arrangements to create an interesting blend of world and contemporary instrumental music.
