Guitarist / bass player Ben Segal, and Orest Hart percussionist / keyboardist first met in 1981 and began to cultivate an original blend of classical and folk-like elements that was different than most other music at the time. Encouraged by their unique sound together, and their vast eclectic backgrounds in free-form and improvised music, they formed the versatile group "Sativa" (to sow the seeds of that which is innovative).
